Artists as agents of change and mediators of the personal and public imagination intervene into embedded social, cultural, economic, and ecological systems. In so doing they create new conceptual and material form to engage with the unexpected, impossible, playful, tragic, hidden, unlikely, and strange. These artistic objects and moments challenge our worldviews, open our minds, and shift our perspectives. In this series, six speakers offer diverse insights into the power of art to spark the deeper conversations and more meaningful interactions required to build the capacity for personal, social, and political resilience.
All lectures held in the Center for Creative Photography Auditorium, Room 108.
The School of Art Visiting Artists and Scholars lecture series is made possible by the National Endowment for the Arts, the Edward J. Gallagher, Jr. Memorial Endowment, the School of Art Advisory Board Visiting Artists and Scholars Endowment, the School of Art, the College of Fine Arts Dean’s Fund for Excellence, and the Center for Creative Photography.
