Lecture: Out of This World
Using distinctly physical materials, Brookhart Jonquil creates spectacularly perceptual sculptures that evoke perfect immaterial forms. Jonquil will discuss his recent work as well as his early work made as a student at the U of A, drawing connections and sharing lessons learned on the way.
Brookhart Jonquil was born in Santa Cruz, California in 1984. Raised in Portland, Oregon and Tucson, he attended the University of Arizona and in 2007 graduated with a BA in Art History and a BFA focusing in sculpture. He went on to earn his MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where he was awarded a graduate fellowship.
He has exhibited widely throughout the US and has attended residencies in Miami, Bulgaria, and at Tucson’s Museum of Contemporary Art. His solo exhibitions this year include In a Perfect World at Emerson Dorsch in Miami and YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY? at the Bass Museum in Miami Beach.
He currently lives in Miami.
