An international artist who resides in New York City, McElheny’s presentation will include film, sound projects and images from his collaboration with Ohio State University astrophysicist David Weinberg, which attempts to describe or depict an image of the infinite.  His upcoming exhibition at the Institute for Contemporary Art is an attempt to focus further on his interest in connecting the history of science to progressive politics; in this lecture the artist hopes to spark further discussion and questions about the crossover of ideas across various fields of inquiry, from art to design to science to the politics of anarchism. McElheny is a 2006 recipient of the MacArthur Fellows Program “genius grant” and his projects have been exhibited widely including at The New Museum of Contemporary Art, the Whitney Biennial and the Museum of Modern Art.
